Update your payment method on Meta

Trond HaugåCOO & Co-founder0:32Recorded October 28, 2026

Meta charges your ads to the payment method on your Meta ad account, never to Native. If a payment fails, Meta refuses new ads until it can charge again, and Native tells you when it refuses one.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: The notice

Native says Ads are on hold at the top of Create and Suggestions, with Meta's own words on what to fix, such as Update payment method. When you open the Publish dialog, it says Review your Meta billing.

Ads are on hold at the top of Create in Native, with Meta's words: Update payment method: Visit the Billing and payment center to add a valid payment method
  2. Step 2: Open Meta billing

Press Open Meta billing. It opens your ad account's billing in Meta Ads Manager. Add a payment method or update the one that failed, and pay what Meta says is due.

Tip: Meta names these pages Billing & payments or Payment settings. You may need admin access to the ad account on Meta.

  3. Step 3: I've done this

Back in Native, a brand admin presses I've done this. Then publish your ad again. If Meta still can't charge it, the notice comes back.

Tip: Only the brand's owners and admins see I've done this.

Tips from Trond

  • What your ads cost is between you and Meta: Native never charges for ad spend.
  • Meta may pause ads that are already running until the balance is paid. Once it is, they can run again.
