Ad problems

Link Instagram to the Page your ads run as

Trond HaugåCOO & Co-founder0:35Recorded October 28, 2026

Meta accepts the Instagram account on your ad only when it is linked to the Facebook Page your ads run as. If it isn't, Meta refuses the ad, and Native says what to link.

In this video

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Native names the link

When Meta refuses the ad, the Publish dialog says what to link. When Native can tell, it names the Page your ads run as and the Instagram account, for example: Your ads run as the Facebook Page “Fjord Studio”, and no Instagram account is linked to it. Link @fjordstudio to “Fjord Studio” in Meta, then publish again.

Native's Publish dialog after Meta refused the ad: Your ads run as the Facebook Page Fjord Studio, and no Instagram account is linked to it. Link @fjordstudio to Fjord Studio in Meta, then publish again

Tip: If Native sees your Instagram account linked to another of your Pages, the message names that Page. Link the account to the Page your ads run as, or, when the message offers it, reconnect Meta Ads and choose the other Page for your ads.

  2. Step 2: Link it on the Page

On Facebook, switch to your Page, open Settings & privacy, then Settings. Under Permissions, open Linked accounts, choose Instagram, and press Connect account. Log in to the Instagram account you're linking.

How to link Instagram to a Page, under Native's message, opens Meta's own steps.

Tip: It has to be an Instagram professional account, business or creator. Meta asks a personal account to switch when you link it.

  3. Step 3: Publish again

Back in Native, press Publish again: the dialog stays open after a refusal. If Meta takes the ad, the dialog closes and says it's published. If Meta refuses again, the dialog says why.

After Publish again: Facebook is checking your ad, with its campaign and ad set live and the ad in review

Tips from Trond

  • Have you linked the Instagram account and the Page in Accounts Center, or put both in the same business portfolio? Check Linked accounts in the Page's own settings too: Meta says a business portfolio alone doesn't link them.
  • If Native says the link is already in place, it can't tell why Meta still refused. Contact Native support, and say when you published.
  • More details, under the message, shows the full error Native got back, with Meta's codes.
